  • 2. Connect the device
    Connect the optical network terminal (ONT) to the router: Connect the gigabit Ethernet port of the ONT to the WAN port of the router. If the distance between the optical network terminal (ONT) and the router is relatively far, a network cable extender or an optical transceiver can be used for connection.
    Connect the router to the computer: Use an Ethernet cable to connect the LAN port of the router to the network port of the computer. In this way, we can set up the router through the computer.
    Connect the power: Insert the power adapter of the router into the power socket and turn on the router. At this point, the indicator light of the router will come on, indicating that the router is powered on.

    Log in to the router management interface: Open your computer’s browser and enter the management IP address of the router in the address bar (such as 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, etc., please refer to the router manual for details). Then, enter the username and password (the default is admin or as indicated on the label on the back of the router) to log in to the router management interface.
    To set the WAN port connection type: In the router management interface, find the “Network Parameters” or “WAN Port Settings” option. Then, based on the broadband type provided by the operator, select the corresponding connection type (such as PPPOE, dynamic IP, etc.). If you choose the PPPOE connection type, you need to enter your broadband account and password.
    Enable DHCP service: In the router management interface, find the “DHCP Service” option and enable the DHCP service. In this way, the router will automatically assign IP addresses to the connected wireless devices.
    To set up a wireless network: In the router management interface, find the “Wireless Settings” option. Then, set the name (SSID) and password of the wireless network. It is recommended to choose secure encryption methods such as WPA2 or WPA3 to ensure the security of the wireless network.
    Save and restart the router: After completing the above Settings, click the “Save” button. Then, in the router management interface, find the “Restart Router” option and click Restart. At this point, the router will restart and apply the new Settings.
